You do not, in most cases, have to do major renovations to a well-maintained house before putting it on the market.

But there are key updates to make when you sell your home. Some are necessities for your house to be competitive, and some are aesthetic changes that really appeal to buyers. You can freshen up your house and property with a few relatively simple projects that cost much less than gutting a room.

There is so much work that goes into a design project. Even though we all focus on the end goal, where a project starts is equally important. A recent Instagram post of a Before-After project reminded me how fun it is to compare both side-by-side. Since we designers like to show only pretty images on our websites, I thought hey, why not use the blog to show both?! Here are a few of my favorite transformations…

Usually I love a fireplace, but sometimes they’re just in the worst location. In this project, the heavy brick fireplace was blocking a fantastic view so we demolished it and opened up the Family Room with a wall of glass sliders

The other evening we had the pleasure of attending the Porta Romana opening at our local Kneedler-Fauchere showroom and wanted to share some of the pretty offerings from their lighting line.

I love the detailing of the chic, latticed gold collar and how beautifully it pairs with the bubbled milk glass on their Pearldrop lamp

I am always on the hunt for new products and innovations – especially in furniture, lighting and accessories. Recently a few Mexican artists have caught my eye and I wanted to share some of these fabulous products.

Ania Wolowska of ITZ out of Bacalar, Mexico produces furniture with a modern, European sensibility, combined with local hardwoods and traditional craftsmanship.
